The Gernert Company is a full-service literary agency founded in 1996 by David Gernert, who left his post as Editor-in-Chief of Doubleday to represent authors. Based in New York with a Los Angeles office, it represents more than 500 authors across literary and commercial fiction; wide-ranging nonfiction including history, politics, journalism, science, business, and memoir; children's books from early readers to young adult; and graphic novels — and, since 2021, podcasters. A traditional commission-based agency, it sells domestic, foreign, film/TV, and subsidiary rights, frequently working with co-agents.
